Airtel knows that people in India are now consuming more data than ever so they have launched their next generation wireless network for fulfilling their requirements.

“As customers in India show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to the power of blazing 4G speeds. We recently launched “Project Leap”, our national network transformation drive, and look forward to augmenting our 4G presence in Tamil Nadu and deliver a compelling network experience for our customers now and in years to come,” said George Mathen, Hub CEO, Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel.

Reliance Jio Launches 55 Tbps 8,100 Km Long Submarine Cable

Reliance Jio has now launched its own 8,100 km long submarine communications cable named as Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) in the country. This cable links South East Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Far East Asia through the interconnection of existing cable networks.

BBG is based on Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) which is a sophisticated fibre optic transmission technology capable of increasing the data transfer rate without any submarine intervention.

The whole system will work at 9 Tbps for now, but has a design capacity of 55 Tbps.

“We are excited about the launch of BBG as it offers not just direct connectivity in and out of India through Chennai and Mumbai but also acts as a state-of-the-art 100 Gbps extension of Jio’s 100 Gbps core network,” said Mathew Oommen, President RJio at the launch of BBG.

BBG will also let any other company get low-latency high-speed data access in India without incurring any capital expenditure.

“This global connectivity brings key international content hubs closer to our customers, delivering a much richer experience as an important part of driving India’s broadband adoption, enabling consumers to shift away from the current high-cost low value propositions,” Oommen added.

This ambitious BBG project was announced in 2013 by a consortium of players including Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Vodafone Group, Omantel, Etisalat, RJio. and Dialog Axiata.

Reliance Jio invested in this project as a part of its broadband launch plans. No word has been out about the launch of RJio broadband plans, but we will keep you updated as and when new information surfaces about it.
